Max's Story
Five year old Max was surrendered to the Hollister Animal Shelter. From talking with the Shelter staff, Max was not a stranger to them. His original owner left Max and his brother with a friend who surrendered them to the shelter when they were very young. The boys were adopted out. In 2023 they came back to the Shelter as strays. Again they were adopted out but came back to the Shelter this January as an owner surrender because of a bite incident. The shelter felt there was something odd about the bite report because they could not verify the the report with the "victim". Max is a sweet little boy who is a little hand and new people shy. Once he gets to know you he just wants to be close to his person. He gets along with other dogs. He is learning how to take treats from your fingers gently. He is current with his vaccinations, is neutered and micro-chipped and has tested negative for heartworms. He gets very nervous about being closed in small spaces and crates. We think that because he was in so many homes as a young dog, he has some separation anxiety about being left alone. Max needs a family who is patient and understanding and can give this little guy time for the diamond inside to emerge and shine. Is that your family?
