Companions in Waiting success stories
Ralphy (was Alfie)
A Palo Alto animal control officer witnessed Alfie being hit by a car. Alfie was lucky. He only had scrapes and abrasions and a couple of broken teeth. He went to Palo Alto Animal Services to wait for his family to find him but no one ever came looking for this cute little guy! Alfie was terrified of humans he didn't know with hands. The staff realized that he needed to be in a setting where he could gain confidence with people. Once he trusted you, Alfie trusted you with his whole being. Off he came to CIW. It took some time for him to realize that people with hands did nice things to and for him. He learned to enjoy the Adoption Fairs and we knew he was ready to find his forever family and find them he did. He now has a Mom and Dad and we recently learned that he also has a big brother to play with. Hot diggity dogs!! Life is so good!!
