Kittens turn up in the most unexpected places

A litter of kittens just a few days old were accidentally shipped in a box from a grower in Salinas to a plant nursery in Half Moon Bay. Chances are their mom hid them in the box, and nobody noticed them before it was sealed and shipped. When the kittens were discovered by employees at the nursery, they contacted Companions in Waiting to care for them and find them homes.

At that age, kitten rely on their mother for warmth and for food every couple of hours. One kitten sadly did not survive the ordeal, but amazingly, four did survive. Companions in Waiting took them in and nursed them back into good shape. They will be ready for adoption soon, after they are spayed/neutered and received their initial vaccinations. There are two boys and two girls, and they are all named after plants!

We always need foster homes to help out when kittens turn up unexpectedly. Becoming a foster home for Companions in Waiting is one of the most fun and rewarding ways to help animals. If you can't foster, your donations can help us provide food, medical care, and more for these kittens and and others like them.
