Sophie's Story

In early December 2009, a call came to CIW asking for help rehoming a cat. As it turned out, the family was moving to Australia and didn't want to take their family kitty. The family canvassed the neighbors for a possible home for Sophie. A wonderful neighbor helped but the placement didn't work for nine year old Sophie so she contacted CIW again. This time Sophie came to CIW.  A call came from a Mom and daughter who were looking to invite an adult kitty to be a member of their family. Sophie fit every point on their wish list for their special new family member. We thought that Sophie had found her "forever" home but this little girl's life was about to take another unhappy twist. First the Mom, then the daughter passed away and in 2012 Sophie disappeared. We didn't know where she was or how to find her. Then in early May '16, we received a phone call saying that a little cat had been trapped at a mobile home park on the coast side and her micro chip said that her name was Sophie!!!! We were thrilled! Now fifteen/sixteen year old Sophie was back with CIW. Where had she been? How had she survived? Who had been helping her? Sophie is not giving us any answers. We would certainly like to thank whoever helped Sophie for their kindness to this sweet little girl. She is still  shy but once she gets to know you, she loves pets and rubs. We would love Sophie to have a safe and warm home for the rest of her life. Can you give Sophie that loving home?
